Beyonce in infringement lawsuit over ‘fierce’ fragrance

WASHINGTON - Beyonce Knowles has been hit with a trademark infringement lawsuit over her plans to release her own perfume under the name of her alter ego Sasha Fierce.
The R and B lady bagged a multi-million dollar contract with world-famous perfumers Coty to launch her own scent by spring 2010.
But bosses at American clothing firm Abercrombie and Fitch have filed a federal lawsuit in Columbus, Ohio, to prevent the singer and Coty from releasing their scent with the word ‘fierce’ in its name, reports Contactmusic.
Representative for the firm turned to court over fears that the name of perfume would create confusion with their own “signature” scent Fierce.
The legal papers apparently say Beyonce’s perfume plan “poses a likelihood of confusion” for consumers and may take a toll on Abercrombie and Fitch’s sales. (ANI)
