Abba’s music won’t feature in ‘Mama Mia’ sequel

LONDON - Abba’s Benny Andersson has said that even if there is a sequel to the hit movie musical ‘Mama Mia,’ it won’t feature the band’s music.
The co-writer of the group’s hits said the band wouldn’t be doing another musical.
“No, it’s not going to happen. There will not be another, quote unquote, Abba musical,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.
Rumors had spread that there would be a follow up to the 2008 hit after Meryl Streep said that she would like to reprise her role in a “Grand Mamma Mia.”
However, Andersson has dampened it by saying that he will not permit his back catalogue to be used.
But he has left open the prospect that the film’s producers might approach another artist to create a soundtrack.
He said: “Catherine Johnson [Mamma Mia screenwriter] is keen on working on something that has to do with her characters in the Mamma Mia movie - but it will not be with Abba music.” (ANI)
