Rapper HELL RELL is taking his former DIPLOMATS bandmate and boss JIM JONES to court in a dispute over royalties.
The star is taking legal action against executives at Babygrande Records, Tycoon Entertainment, and E1 Music - formerly known as Koch Records - for which Jones is an A&R executive.
In official documents filed in New York County Court this week (begs07Sep09), Hell Rell, born Durell Mohammad, claims the defendants cheated him out of money from the sale of his 2007 album For the Hell of It and its follow-up, Black Mask, Black Gloves, in 2008.
He is seeking an undisclosed sum in compensation, reports AllHipHop.com.
