shakiraWASHINGTON - Colombian singer Shakira has said that her latest album was created to distract her fans’ attention away from the recession. The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer insists that her latest musical offering, ‘She Wolf’, was designed to help her fans forget about the world’s current financial crisis and enjoy themselves.

“It’s a very electronic album. Dance-oriented, club-oriented. I want people to have fun with it. Forget about their troubles. Forget about the crisis. Forget everything for a minute - at least while they listen to the music,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling MTV.

Although she knew she wanted to use her music to cheer people up, the 32-year-old popstar was terrified the final outcome would not be a success.

“You never know the final destination of a creative project. At first, you are standing in front of a white canvas, and that’s the scariest thing on earth,” she said.

“You don’t know if you’re going to do justice to the gifts that you have been given. Or if you are going to be able to present the public something decent.

“You just have a huge question mark in front of you, and it’s just frightening.

But from the beginning of the project, I knew that I wanted an album that had a lot more to do with electronica,” she added. (ANI)
