WASHINGTON - Time to rejoice for Backstreet Boys’ fans, for the popular boy band of the 90s are planning for a second stint at stardom and want to be as big as the Rolling Stones.
The popstars who enjoyed a string of hits, including ‘I Want It That Way’, have reformed minus former bandmate Kevin Richardson.
Singer Nick Carter, who has been battling alcohol and drug demons for 10 years, has sobered up for their comeback tour.
He is also said to have lost four stone.
“There are demons I am fighting but I just want to be fit and healthy. If you fall off the horse, you just have to get back on again,” Contactmusic quoted him Carter as saying.
He added: “We’re here to stay - we want to be as big as the Rolling Stones.” (ANI)

I think the Backstreet Boys meant they wanted to last as long as the Rolling Stones-be on the stage at 60 still doing what they do. They don’t think of themselves as a rock band at all, never did-they are a vocal harmony group aka The Temptations. |

“Like the Rolling Stones” was from AJ–and he meant only that the Rolling Stones are in their 60s, but are still out there making live shows. The Backstreet Boys intend to keep going doing what they do for another 30 years. None of the Backstreet Boys are delusional enough to think their musical legacy will be like the Stones. But of course, critics and editors will twist their meaning to give just one more reason to critcize them. |
