David Mamet sets world premiere for fall
NEW YORK — New York is getting another David Mamet (MAM’-eht) world premiere.
“School,” a one-act play by the author of “American Buffalo” and “Speed-the-Plow,” will be half of a double bill opening Sept. 30 at off-Broadway’s Atlantic Theater Company.
It will be joined by “Keep Your Pantheon,” which is set in ancient Rome and was seen last year in Los Angeles. Previews begin Sept. 9.
Already on tap for the new season is “Race,” starring James Spader (SPAY’-dur) and Richard Thomas. It opens on Broadway in December.
The Atlantic season will also include the American premiere of Sam Shepard’s “Ages of the Moon,” which looks at the reunion of two old friends. It begins performances Jan. 9.
