Star Trek tops weekend box office

WASHINGTON - The new Star Trek movie has topped the weekend box office after raking in 72.5 million dollars.

According to studio estimates, Hugh Jackman’s ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ slipped to the second spot with 27 million dollars.

‘Ghosts of Girlfriends Past’ - starring Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Michael Douglas - came third with 10.5 million dollars while ‘Obsessed’ stood fourth with 6.6 million dollars.

Zac Efron’s ‘17 Again’ rounded of the top five with 4.4 million dollars, reports E! Online.

The weekend’s top-grossing films are:

3.Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, $10.5 million
